TEXT, TEXT, TEXT, WRITE…WAIT WRITE... RIGHT?

TEXT, TEXT, TEXT, WRITE…WAIT WRITE... RIGHT?

Technology has advanced so far where we forgot our own simple pleasures in life.  For example going out for runs, listening to the ocean as the waves crash amongst the shimmering sand.  People nowadays rather text than talk over phone there goes to show how deep texting has affected our ordinary human being. Peoples writing skills are lowered due to texting and their shorten abbreviations were as to taking notes in school was the only acceptation for these so called abbreviations.  Texting has not conquered me, I use it but as a last resort where people are unreachable.
There is one verse from a poetic artist that comes to mind, whom im speaking of is ‘Sage Francis’.  His say about technology, well we can say texting in this case, is “the television went from being a baby sitter to a mistress.  Technology made it easy for us to stay in touch while keeping a distance, till’ we just stayed distant and never touched. Now all we do is text too much.”  This subject made me ponder and retrieved this verse from my depths of mind.  It was the only thing aside from my opinion that I can conjure up.  All I can say not to stop texting but try to stay away from texting too much. It really does affect peoples social skills to even driving (don’t text and drive).

  1. The poet's quote that you mentioned is a very eye opening quote that shows how out of touch with our own kind we have become.

  3. In the first sentence of reading your blog, it just immediately made me at ease and pushed me to get out the ocean to chill, go surfing and then just enjoy the day without the worries of technology and texting! Thank you for that vision, I actually got around to going this Sunday even. I could really attest to the T.V. becoming the mistress, no matter how hard you try to stay away from it, you always end up going to it eventually? Same goes for texting, people say they don’t text much, but if you call your cell phone provider and ask how much texting you use per month you would be shocked and even might die!!!

  4. Here is an idea. Put your phone somewhere out of sight. Dont look at it, dont think about it, dont even answer it when someone calls or text, unless its an emergency. Im sure it will feel weird to not have your phone in your pocket but the time without it will be worth it.. Just try it. You will be more engaged in the day

  5. I totally agree. People forget what nature has to offer. They are so caught up texting that its almost impossible for them to stop.

  7. I agree with you on text but not too much, especially if someone is trying to have a conversation with you in person and you are on your phone texting having a conversation with someone else.
